1
Choose votive candles for your lantern. Decide from paraffin, vegetable oil blend, or soy-based candles. Local candle makers generally use natural soy or vegetable blends and are less expensive when purchasing in quantity.
-
2
Find glass lanterns to house the votive candles in at home stores such as West Elm, Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel. Decorate the inside of the lantern with airy sprays of Lilly of the Valley and blooms of Ranunculus that will complement the color scheme. Ranunculus has fresh chartreuse hearts while the Lilly of the Valley adds playfulness.

3
Tie the 2-inch wide satin ribbon to the handle of the lantern. Leave enough ribbon for length and securely tie the ribbon to tree branches or a rustic ladder from an indoor venue ceiling. The lanterns should be long enough to be visible and short enough that guests will not interfere.
-
4
Tie a bow at the handle knot to add a touch of charm to each ribbon. Use the same color or complementary color for the bow.
-
5
Place the votive candle into a snug glass votive candle holder. Light the candle and carefully place into the glass lantern with the Ranunculus blooms and Lilly of the Valley surrounding the votive. The candle light will illuminate the blooms adding a touch of elegance to the piece.

Tips & Warnings
Use scented candles for added ambiance in your venue. Florals and soft vanilla blends are perfect for weddings.
Instead of real candles, use flameless votive candles with a faint flicker for the safest option. Most flameless candles last up to 72 hours.
Make sure that the flowers do not interfere with the candles' flames. Make sure each candle is a safe distance from the flowers inside the lantern.
