How to Tie Ribbons Into Square Knots

How to Tie Ribbons Into Square Knots thumbnail
A square knot is a secure and decorative knot often used for ribbon tying.

Square knots are extremely secure knots that are also decorative. Ribbon is often slippery, and a square knot will keep the ribbon fabric in place. A square knot can even take the place of a gift bow, if you use a high quality silk or satin ribbon. Cut the ribbon ends into a notched V to deliver additional interest. Attaching ribbon to Christmas ornaments adds an elegant touch, and the square knot will keep the ornament from slipping off the tree.
