How to Use a Fish Finder Rig

How to Use a Fish Finder Rig thumbnail
A fish finder rig can help you catch finicky fish.

A fish finder rig can be a useful set-up when the fish you're pursuing aren't cooperating. The fish finder rig keeps your bait suspended off of the bottom so it's easier for fish to find it. This is done by placing a swivel above the hook and attaching a drop line with a sinker on the end of it. This allows your line to stay stationary while your hook floats above the bottom.

Things You'll Need

  • Sliding snap swivel
  • 3 oz. to 6 oz. pyramid sinker
  • barrel swivel
  • appropriate sized hook
  • strong fishing line for leader
