How to Know If People Have Blocked You on MSN

MSN Messenger allows you to chat with friends online. If you get into an argument with a friend while exchanging instant messages it may result in that person blocking you, which means the person will always appear to be offline and you will not be able to talk to them on MSN Messenger until they unblock you. There are a few ways to tell if someone has blocked you.

Instructions

    • 1

Watch your friends list to see if the person appears online; if they do come online, they have not blocked you. When a person blocks you they will always appear to be offline.

    • 2

Sign into your MSN Messenger account and go to the "Options" menu. Click on "Privacy." There will be two lists: one containing people who can see you when you are online and one containing people you have blocked. At the bottom of the screen, click "See who has added you to their contact list" and click "View." This will allow you to see everyone who still has you in their list.

    • 3

Use MSN Plus's contact cleanup option; this may delete people who have blocked you.

Tips & Warnings

  • Call the person you think has blocked you; this may help resolve the argument.

  • Some programs exist claiming they can determine who has blocked you on MSN Messenger, but they can contain spyware that will harm your computer.
