Delta Force is a very elite group and you must pass several tests to be accepted.

The United States Army's 1st Special Forces Delta Force unit is an elite task group. To become an Army Delta, you may apply or be recruited. You must meet stringent requirements including military service, physical fitness and a college degree. To find out about openings, look for advertisements on Army bases or in Army publications. Delta Force is possibly one of the hardest Special Force branches to join, but if you train yourself and work hard, you may be selected.

      Serve in the United States military. All Special Forces units require that you serve several years in the military before applying or being recruited. As of November 2010, women are not allowed to join Delta Force. Delta Force accepts men from all branches of the military but works closely with the Army. You must be a ranking officer, such as a captain, major or sergeant.

      Speak several languages fluently. You must learn as many languages as possible. If accepted, you may be sent anywhere on the globe, and you will be required to speak the language fluently.

      Pass the Army Physical Fitness Test, which requires you to do a certain number of push-ups and sit-ups and run a certain distance in a short amount of time. For example, you may be required to do a timed 40-mile night march through rough or steep terrain while carrying a 45-pound rucksack. You must be in excellent shape to join Delta Force.

      Practice your shooting skills until you are an expert sharpshooter. Your shooting skills must be absolutely perfect to be considered.

      Become an expert on land navigation. You will be required to take a land-navigational test without a map or compass. You may be dropped off in the middle of a desert at night to find your way back to the base in a certain amount of time.

      Pass all background checks. You may not have a history of recurring disciplinary action. Exceptions may be made depending on the severity and length of time since any incidents.

      Apply once you are at least 21 years old and a college graduate. You may have either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science.

      Apply for Delta Force only when you are completely ready. The tests that you will endure can be excruciating for the body and mind. You will be required to take a land navigational test, a physical fitness test, a language test and a written test to scale your intelligence. You must be prepared to join immediately if you are selected after the tests. Once in the Delta Force you will working on a variety of tasks that may take you all over the world. Delta Force members rescue hostages, gather intelligence on terrorist forces and eliminate terrorist forces. Every mission requires excellent health, physical fitness and high intelligence.
