Instructions

      Locate the battery compartment on the side of your First Alert alarm, just above and to the left of the "Test/Silence" button. Pull gently on the battery compartment tab to open the compartment.

      Press the two tabs on the inside of the battery compartment to release the batteries. Remove the spent batteries from the alarm and discard, or recycle, them.

      Insert two new AA alkaline batteries into the battery compartment of your First Alert fire alarm. Note the polarity indicated on the inside of the compartment to ensure that you install the batteries correctly. Close the battery compartment.

      Test your First Alert fire alarm after installing the new batteries. Press and hold the alarm's "Test/Silence" button for three to five seconds until the alarm begins to sound. Press the "Test/Silence" button again to silence the alarm.

Tips & Warnings

  • Test your First Alert fire alarm weekly to ensure that it is functioning properly. Follow the alarm testing process described in Step 4.

  • Replace the batteries in your First Alert fire alarm immediately if the unit begins to emit a "chirping" sound.
