How to Store a Pioneer AVIC X1

The Pioneer AVIC X1 is a global positioning system for vehicle use with touch-screen operation and a built-in DVD player with radio. Designed as a head unit for attaching to the dashboard of a car or truck, the AVIC X1 control panel disconnects from the dash with the push of a button for quick storage to prevent theft. Whether you need to store the AVIC X1 for a few hours while shopping or for long-term storage, protecting the touch screen and electronics will prolong the life of the unit.

  • Padded bag measuring 8x8 inches with drawstrings, or large piece of padded material
  • Plastic or cardboard box

Instructions

    • 1

      Push the release button in the upper left and lower right corners of the faceplate to disconnect the AVIC X1 from the base in the dashboard and release the touchscreen.

      Insert the AVIC X1 into a padded drawstring bag or place on a large piece of padded material and fold the material over the unit.

      Place the protected AVIC X1 in a hard plastic or cardboard storage container and close the lid.

      Store the unit in a cool, dry location away from extreme temperatures and moisture. If storing the unit for a short time, such as an afternoon of shopping or going to the movies, place the storage container in the trunk of the vehicle. Otherwise, store in a safe location, such as a closet. Avoid attics and basements.
