How to Recover a Gateway With PC Angel

How to Recover a Gateway With PC Angel thumbnail
Use the D: drive PC Angel backup utility to restore your computer system.

Gateway computers come with the PC Angel utility, which holds a system backup of the computer. This backup can be used when any of the software becomes corrupt or the operating system starts having issues like freezing, missing windows, or restarts. Many people who have PC Angel on their Gateway don't know how to run the utility and often experience data loss when trying to do so. To recover the Gateway computer, PC Angel gives two options, which are called destructive and non-destructive. The destructive mode will give you a clean installation but will not save any of your files, whereas the non-destructive option will save your files too.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the computer and strike the "F11" key within three seconds of your start. This will be long before the computer enters the Windows logo screen. Choose to either recover from the hard drive backup, located on the "D:" drive, or use the recovery disk that came with the computer.

    • 2

Select the type of restoration you want. You can select a non-destructive System Restore, a full System Restore (destructive) or a full System Restore with backup options. The last option is for advanced users only.

    • 3

Press "Enter" after selecting the appropriate type of restore. Wait for the restore process to start and follow the onscreen, easy-to-understand directions.

    • 4

Wait for the restoration process to complete. Restart the computer and start using the computer as you normally do.
