How to Make Pocketfold Wedding Programs

How to Make Pocketfold Wedding Programs thumbnail
A pocketfold wedding program can be any color and style you want it to be.

Wedding programs add that special something to your big day by outlining your ceremony, and it is a great way to introduce your bridal party. Just like any detail in your wedding it is an important one, but even the smallest details can put a big dent in your bank account. There are ways, however, that you can still add a touch of elegance to your wedding service by making your own pocketfold wedding program. Believe it or not this is fairly easy and surprisingly cheap to do.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the 12-inch by 12-inch card stock on a flat surface. From left to right fold card stock in three panels. The first panel should be 3 inches and the second and third panels should be 4 5/8 inches. Unfold the card stock and lay it flat.

    • 2

Fold 7 inches down from top to bottom. Unfold the card stock so there are 6 different sized rectangles, with the largest rectangles on the top. To make folds straight and smooth use a straight edge ruler.

    • 3

Place the card stock on the edge of the paper cutter to cut. Line up the smallest half on the botton, then cut off the first two bottom rectangles. The card stock should now be an "L" shape.

    • 4

In panel three, fold the bottom flap up, then fold back down and add double sided tape as straight and as close to the edge as possible on the left and right edge of the bottom flap. Fold the flap back up and line up the edges and press firmly.

    • 5

For the inside middle panel of the program use Microsoft Word to create the template. Format the page to the landscape orientation. Center the font, then print on an 8.5 by 11-inch sheet of paper. Cut the paper to a 4 by 6.25-inch rectangle.

    • 6

Cut colored card stock 7 by 4 5/8-inches. Place double-sided tape on the back of all four sides of the 4 by 6.5-inch paper and center on top of the colored 7 by 4 5/8-inch card stock. On the back of the card stock, put double-sided tape on all four edges, and attach in the inside middle panel.

    • 7

For the inserts, create templates in Microsoft Word to fit in the pocket side. Print on the colored paper, place tape on back of all four sides then attach to the card stock.

    • 8

To properly fold the program, fold right to left making sure the 3-inch panel is the front part of the program.

Tips & Warnings

  • The embellishments to add that extra flare to the program depend on the theme of the wedding. You can use ribbon, beads, stickers, writing or whatever you can get creative with.

  • When using the paper cutter make sure to keep the blade down, and to be careful where the hand and fingers are placed when cutting the paper.
