How to Wire an Earphone

You can wire an ear phone with the proper headset parts.

Cell phone subscribers who desire to hear their favorite songs on their mobile device need to wire their earphones accordingly. To complete this process, figure out what kind of headset jack your device contains. If you want to listen to music on your mobile device, wire an earphone to make this process easy.

Things You'll Need

• New pair of earphones
• Screwdriver
• Soldering iron
• Wire cutters

Instructions

1. Buy a new pair of earphones from an electronics store in your area. Then, cut your broken earphones off their cord.

2. Turn the shell of your new earphones and put them on the cord of your broken pair of earphones.

3. Using a wire cutter, take off about four centimeters from the outside layer of your earphone cord.

4. Cut about half an inch of insulation from both insulated wires.

5. Insert the last of the three wires, called the "ground wire" or "uninsulated wire" to your device's plug terminal.

6. Solder your device's insulated wires to the terminals that remain.
