How to Disarm the Theft System on a 2000 Mercury Sable

Some models of the 2000 Mercury Sable are equipped with an anti-theft perimeter alarm system. When the system is armed, the headlights will flash and the horn will chirp when unauthorized access is detected. If the system is disarmed, no alarms or lights will be activated. Disarming the system will turn off the alarm if it has been activated, or prevent the alarm from activating. The anti-theft system can be re-armed at any time.

Instructions

1. Insert the key into the driver side door. Turn the key all the way to the left.

2. Insert the key into the ignition.

3. Start the engine. The system is disarmed when the engine starts.

Tips & Warnings

• Pressing the "Unlock" button on a keyless entry remote will also disarm the anti-theft system.
