Learn how to customize Survey Monkey surveys.

Survey Monkey is an online survey program. Some business owners and organizations use Survey Monkey to put together, distribute and compile the results from online surveys. Survey Monkey offers two different options: a free version and a professional-subscriber version. While the free version has limitations on the theme and the number of people you can send the survey to, the professional version allows you to customize or use DIY theme options.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Survey Monkey professional account, using the log-on name and password you set up for the account. The landing page is the My Survey page, which is the page that opens up after you log in to your account.

    • 2

Click on the "Design" option next to the survey title that you want to add your DIY theme. This will open the survey in edit mode so that you can make adjustments to the survey.

    • 3

Click the "Create Custom Theme" button. This button is next to the drop-down menu of the default theme box. This opens the theme editor.

    • 4

Identify the area of the layout you want to customize. These options include: the font, background, title of the survey, title of the page, the description of the page, the question heading, the question choices, the progress bar, the exit link, required asterisk mark, and error text. Click on the area you want to change.

    • 5

Follow the prompts for changing the property you have chosen. Click save when you are done to save the changes you have made to the design.

    • 6

Review the "Theme Preview" that appears on the page, as you make changes to the survey. This area reveals the changes as you make them, so you can preview how the survey will look.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some of the additional ways you can DIY your theme in Survey Monkey include adding a logo to the header of the survey; adding images in the body of the survey; changing the background or theme to the colors of your company; and sending respondents to a specific page after the survey is complete.
