How to Reset TPMs on a Prius

Many models of the Toyota Prius are equipped with a tire pressure-monitoring system, or TPMS, that monitors sensors mounted on the wheels to determine if the tires are properly inflated. If the computer detects that the air pressure in any of the tires is lower than it should be in order to drive safely, a low-pressure warning is displayed on the instrument panel. As the low-pressure situation is corrected, the TPMS system needs to be reset so it can accurately track the tire pressure.
Step 1
Park the Prius on a level surface.
Step 2
Inflate all four tires to their proper pressure. The recommended pressure is stamped on the side of each tire.
Step 3
Turn the ignition switch to "ON" without starting the engine.
Step 4
Press and hold the TPMS reset button located below the steering wheel. Release the button after the low-pressure light blinks three times.
Step 5
Leave the ignition turned on for 20 minutes so the computer can calibrate each sensor. Turn the ignition off after 20 minutes.
