How to Install Deflecta-Shield Mud Flaps
Mud flaps keep mud, rocks and debris from damaging the body of the vehicle. Deflecta-Shield mud flaps are chrome-trimmed mud flaps manufactured by Lund International Company and are available in several different styles and sizes. Many vehicles, especially trucks, have predrilled holes for installing mud flaps. However, you may need to drill holes in the frame of your vehicle in order to install your Deflecta-Shield mud flaps.

1
Inspect your vehicle for mud flap holes. Check the wheel well of your vehicle for small holes you can use to install your Deflecta-Shield mud flaps.
-
2
Hold the mud flaps up to the wheel well in the position that you will install them. They go in the wheel well so they are located behind the tire.
-
-
3
Mark the position of the mud flap mounting holes with a pencil or colored marker.
-
4
Drill holes in the frame of your vehicle if necessary using a drill bit specially designed to drill through metal. Make sure that the size of the drill bit is appropriate for the size of fastener used in the mounting of your mud flaps.
-
5
Insert the fasteners into the holes that you drilled in the frame of your vehicle.
-
6
Hold the mud flap up to the wheel well in the position that it will be installed and line up the mud flap installation holes with the holes you drilled into the frame of your vehicle or the factory predrilled holes in the wheel well.
-
7
Insert the screws that are provided with the mud flaps into the fasteners. Tighten the screws with the screwdriver to secure the mud flaps to the vehicle. Make sure not to over tighten the screws, as this can strip out the fasteners. Pull on the mud flaps and ensure that they are secure and correctly installed before driving with the mud flaps on your vehicle.
