How to Tie Neckerchief Knots

The modern neckerchief is a piece of cloth fabric, worn about the head and neck, and is typically associated with the Boy Scouts of America organization. The Boy Scouts of America have made the neckerchief a required part of the scouting uniform and expect all scouts to know how to properly wear their neckerchief and secure it using a good-turn knot. Properly tying the knots of the neckerchief allows the scout to quickly remove and manipulate the neckerchief in a variety of situations.

Instructions

1. Fold the neckerchief once into a triangle shape.

2. Place the neckerchief around the neck and over the collar of your shirt.

3. Place the slide over the ends of the neckerchief and raise it to the top of the sternum, but below the throat.

4. Grip both ends of the neckerchief, then cross them over each other once, forming a loop.

5. Wrap the end in your right hand through the loop and pull it until it is tight. The overhand knot is complete.
