How to Become a Teacher at a Sylvan Learning Center

Sylvan Learning Centers provide tutoring in many subjects and study skills to students all across the globe. With centers in the United States, the Bahamas, the United Arab Emirates and in other countries, Sylvan is one of the most widely recognized tutoring services in the world. It provides in-person and online tutoring to children from elementary school through high school. Apply online at the center at which you want to work to join Sylvan as a teacher.

      Visit SylvanLearning.com. This is the homepage for Sylvan Learning Centers. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Click on "Career Opportunities."

      Scroll to the bottom of the next page. Enter your address in the message fields to find the nearest Sylvan to your home. Each Sylvan Learning Center is responsible for hiring its own staff. Click "Submit." Even if you live outside the United States, you may be near one of the approximately 900 Sylvan Learning Centers.

      Click "View Available Positions at this Center" on the next page under the contact information for the nearest Sylvan Learning Center. Click "Apply now."

      Fill out the application on the next page. It contains places for you to input your availability and your personal and professional details. Click "Submit." Follow up with the center by phone or email to ensure your application was received. The center's email address and phone number are located on the right side of the screen when you fill out the application. Hover your cursor over the "Email Us" button to read the email address in the bottom left side of your screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • A year of teaching or tutoring experience and a state teacher's certification are necessary to be a teacher at Sylvan (math teachers do not necessarily have to be state-certified). Teaching certifications can be current or expired.
