      Calculate the number of members of the series. For example, the set { 1, 4, 7, 12, 13 } has five members or numbers.

      Add the numbers together. For the example, { 1, 4, 7, 12, 13 } added together equals 37.

      Divide the amount of the numbers added together by the amount of members of the sequence. For the example, 37 divided by 5 equals 7.4. The arithmetic mean is 7.4.
