If you are like many Americans, you might wish you could do more for our soldiers abroad. Brittany and Robbie Bergquist of Norwell, Massachusetts felt that way and were moved to do something about it. Using their savings, the young siblings founded an organization, Cell Phones for Soldiers, to provide soldiers abroad with calling cards so they can keep in touch with their families back home. This organization makes it easy for anyone to donate their old cell phone to help soldiers stay connected with their loved ones without having to break the bank.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to help even more, pay for your own postage so the organization can use that money for more calling cards.

  • Reduce the weight and economize on postage by sending the cell phones only. Batteries, chargers and accessories are welcome but not required.

  • Your donated cell phone is bought by a company that recycles it. Cell Phones for Soldiers uses the money from recycling cell phones to buy calling cards for troops in need.

  • You can print a receipt for your donation using a link on the right side of the Donate a Phone page (see Resources).
