How to Transfer US Airways Miles

How to Transfer US Airways Miles thumbnail
Transferring your US Airways miles to someone else is quick and painless.

Sometimes you may want to book a US Airways flight for someone else and redeem the miles you've accrued from your past travels for that person's journey. Be careful not to make the mistake of booking the ticket under your own name and then trying to transfer that same ticket to someone else. There is actually a much simpler way to transfer your miles to a third person, and you can accomplish it at the time you book your flight.

Instructions

    • 1

Confirm with US Airways that you have enough miles for the person who will be using your miles for travel.

    • 2

Confirm the name of the passenger who will be taking the trip.

    • 3

Book the flight by redeeming miles in your account, making sure to book the ticket under the passenger's name and not your own.

    • 4

The miles will be automatically attributed to the trip you booked under the passenger's name. Keep in mind, you cannot change the name of the passenger once the flight is booked, so make sure you get it right the first time.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the passenger using your miles is unable to take the trip you booked, you can redeposit the miles back into your account. However, there will be a redeposit fee of $150.
