How to Change the Buddy Icon to Another Image in AIM
AOL Instant Messenger (commonly referred to as "AIM" for short) allows you to select an image known as a "buddy icon." This image appears on the buddy list of anybody who adds your screen name as a "buddy," as well as in any instant message window you have open. You can change your existing buddy icon to another image in AIM by adjusting the basic configuration of the program itself.

Click the "Edit" pull down menu at the top of your AIM buddy list.

Click "Settings."

Click "Expressions."

Click the button labeled "Browse." Select the new buddy icon you would like to use from your computer and click "OK" to change your buddy icon.
