Roads and highways can change, so it's important to keep your Range Rover's GPS up to date.

With a GPS navigation system equipped in the 2002 Range Rover, drivers have the ability to travel almost anywhere by following spoken directions and viewing detailed on-screen maps. The navigation system also shows points of interest on the map, such as shopping centers, lodging and restaurants. Streets and highways change, however, with new roads being built and others closed down or redesigned. The Range Rover's GPS can be upgraded to view these new road conditions by purchasing and installing a map update.

Instructions

    • 1

Go the NAVTEQ website. Click "Store," then, under "Update Your Map," click the first drop-down menu. Choose "Built-in, Factory Installed" and "Land Rover." Click the link shown to go to the Land Rover map store.

    • 2

Click "English," then "Range Rover" and "2002." Click on the "Add to Cart" button, then "Checkout."

    • 3

Enter your mailing address and billing information. As of December 2010, the update is priced at $199. The update is mailed to you on an 8-CD set.

    • 4

Start the Range Rover's engine. Turn on the navigation system, then insert the first CD into the disc slot. If prompted, enter the authentication code that came with your CD set. The code may be printed on a slip of paper, or on the packaging.

    • 5

The update process begins. When notified, remove the first CD, then insert the second one. Continue this process until all 8 CDs have been installed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not turn off the Range Rover's engine during the update. This may damage the navigation system.
