Directions for Ionic Detox Footbath
Ionic detox foot baths are thought to draw out toxins and impurities in the body via the feet, through osmosis. Toxins are believed to be negatively charged. Thus, the positive charge of ions, which occurs when iodized salt is added to water, removes these impurities. Ionic foot bath manufacturers also claim that using these baths will help the body release its own healing potential and leave you feeling energized. It is important to carefully follow the directions that come with your bath to avoid potential electrical problems. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place your ionic foot bath on the floor and fill it with warm water to the designated water fill line. Add 1/2 tsp. of salt and stir with the provided scoop until all of the salt has dissolved. Salt levels can be increased or decreased depending on the model and type of water you are using, such as distilled or tap water. However, it is recommended that you not exceed 4 teaspoons of salt (8 teaspoons for distilled water), according to the instruction manual for the Ionic Oasis Foot Bath System, as too much salt can cause the power unit to overload.

2
Plug the connection cables, which are color-coated, into the bath's array module and power supply (such as red to red, etc). Place the array in the foot bath container, ensuring that the array's aluminum conducting bar, located at the top of the array, is not touching the water. This would cause metal contamination of the electrolyte solution, thus lessening the effects of the machine.

3
Place the power supply on the floor so that it is at least 2 feet away from the foot bath. This will avoid accidental splashing of water on the power supply. Refrain from putting it on a stool or table where it can get knocked off into the foot bath solution. Make sure the power supply is turned off and plug it into your GFCI adapter. Plug the adapter into a 110 outlet. The foot bath is ready to use when you see the red light on the adapter comes on. Use the reset button on the adapter if the red light is not on.

4
Remove any jewelry that might be submerged in the foot bath, to avoid damaging the items. Turn on the power switch, which will cause the switch to light up. You will notice bubbles forming around the stainless steel rods in the bath, indicating that the ionization process has begun. Set a comfortable chair in front of the bath and place your feet in the bath container. Relax and enjoy the bath for 30 to 40 minutes. Practitioners recommend 30-40 minute treatments twice a week for best results, according to the instruction manual for the Ionic Oasis Foot Bath System.

Tips & Warnings
Rinse the array thoroughly with warm water following every use to avoid salt deposits on the aluminum conductor bars.
Adding too much salt to your bath will cause a thermal overload of the power unit. Should this occur the foot bath will reset itself after a 5 to 15 minute cool down.
Do not operate electrical devices while using the foot bath.
Ensure that the connecting cord is hooked from the power supply to the array before you plug the unit into an outlet. This will avoid potential damage to the power unit from the connectors coming in contact with one another, according to the instruction manual for the Ionic Oasis Foot Bath System.
Ionic foot baths should not be used by those with a pacemaker, have implanted organs or electrical/electronic implants or by those who are epileptic or hemophiliac.
