How to Make a Cut Tie Fleece Blanket
Tie blankets require no sewing, complicated equipment or special skill. Use fleece fabrics to create a simple yet comforting and warm blanket by cutting and tying together the four sides. Give a cut-tie fleece blanket to someone for the holidays or a special occasion. Tie up one of these blankets for a baby shower gift. Make one for yourself to cozy up underneath while lounging or napping. Select fabrics with patterns and colors that match individual personalities and interests.
Things You'll Need

1
Place one square of the fleece material on a flat surface. Face the printed side down and smooth out the material. Place the other piece of material on top of the first square. Face the printed side so it faces up. Smooth out both pieces of fleece so there are no wrinkles. Trim off any excess material that is overhanging the squares.

2
Measure the distance of 3 inches from the outer edge of the square material. Pin the material together with a straight pin at the 3-inch mark at approximately every 4 inches to form an inner square. The edges of the material should be flush with one another after pinning the material.

Take one corner of the fleece and measure a 3-inch square. Cut out the square and continue with the other three corners of the fleece. Follow the 3-inch measurement that is marked by the straight pins and make cuts at 1-inch intervals around each side of the fleece. Cut through both pieces of the material each time.

4
Start with the end of one side and take the strip from the bottom and top pieces of fleece. Tie a knot with the two strips to secure the squares of fleece. Use an overhanded knot and make two firm knots per set of strips. Continue with the next set of strips and knot one side of the blanket. Before moving to the next side, see that all the strips are knotted. Continue with the other three sides knotting all the strips.

5
Remove all of the straight pins. Stretch the fleece blanket out and check for knots that are too loose or tight and correct them.

Tips & Warnings
Fleece is a stretchable material, but be careful not to overstretch the fabric as you tie the knots as it will leave the blanket misshapen.
Cut your strips in equal lengths and widths, so the finished product does not bunch in areas.
If the strips are cut too thin, there is a chance they could rip from the blanket when knotted.
Experiment with different knotting patterns when tieing the blanket, such as tieing knots all the way to the end of each strip or flipping the blanket back and forth between each knot.
Add craft beads to the strips before knotting for embellishment.
Fleece is machine washable, but cut-tie fleece blankets should be washed and dried with care to ensure the knots do not come apart.
