Mr. Coffee aluminum coffee carafes keep coffee warm without the actual coffee maker having to be on for several hours. As with any aluminum coffee pot, brown stains and odors will linger on the inside of a Mr. Coffee carafe after just a few uses. A dishwashing machine will likely not remove all stains and odors from such coffee pots. Instructions

    • 1

Pour one cup of dry baking soda into the Mr. Coffee carafe.

    • 2

Add two cups of white vinegar and one cup of water into the carafe. A bubbling/foaming reaction occurs once the vinegar mixes with the baking soda. Depending on the size the carafe, the reaction may foam out of the top of the carafe. Placing smaller carafes in the sink avoids spills on tables or counters.

    • 3

Put the carafe's lid back on the carafe. Swirl the liquid solution around the inside of the carafe. Then, leave the liquid inside the pot for about 15 minutes.

    • 4

Remove the carafe's lid and scrub the inside of the pot thoroughly with a long soft-bristled brush. Then, empty the carafe.

    • 5

Squirt a few drops of liquid dish detergent into the carafe. Fill the rest of the carafe with warm tap water.

    • 6

Scrub the inside of the carafe with the long brush once more. Empty the carafe, and rinse the inside of it with lukewarm water. Rinse until you no longer notice soap bubbles or residue.

    • 7

Moisten a clean soft cloth with white vinegar. Wipe the outside of the carafe, including the handle, with the cloth.
