How to Choose Tires for a 300EX
The Honda-made 300EX is an off-road four-wheel ATV. Introduced in 1993, it is still one of the most popular ATVs around. Tire choices for this ATV will have more to do with owner preference and riding terrain than anything mechanical or unsuitable to overall performance. There are aftermarket tires available for any specific terrain that may be encountered, as tire choice can be fine tuned for the riding and terrain you will be riding on most often.

1
Choose an all-purpose tire if you are going to specifically be doing trail riding. Trail riders encounter almost every terrain imaginable, from mud to rocks, sand and gravel, so the best tire for consistent trail riding is one that is suited to all-purpose riding.
-
2
Mount sand tires for riding on dunes and in the desert. Sand tires are specifically made for just one purpose--to make you go on sand. They have paddles on the back to dig into loose sand, and a single rib on the front tires for turning ability. If these tires are used for any other riding terrain, they will wear very quickly and have a tendency to disintegrate.

Put on a set of mud tires for mudding or swamp riding. These tires have huge angled treads to grip even the wettest mud and keep you moving. They work best in mud and on softer soil, but will wear quickly on hard packed surfaces and do not offer very much lateral grip when going sideways on hilly terrain.

Put on racing tires for riding on closed courses or for maximum grip on hard and medium packed terrain. They are the flattest of all the tires and are made for speed runs above all else.
