How to Change the Procedures for a Remote Keyless Entry on a Malibu

The basic procedure for the keyless entry remote unlocks the Chevy Malibu's doors: However, you can also program the Malibu's keyless remote to use some of the remote's optional features. The Malibu keyless entry comes with three customization features that slightly change the operation of your keyless entry remote. These options are programmed through the car's driver information center on the dash.

Instructions

1. Turn the ignition on. Push and hold the "i" and "Reset" buttons at the same time for one second. These buttons are to the right of the Malibu's steering wheel. This brings you to the Malibu's customization menu.

2. Push the "i" button to scroll through the customization options. You'll see the small display window beneath the speedometer changing as you press it. Push "Menu" when you arrive on "Lock Horn." With this option, you'll be able to customize whether the Malibu's horn chirps when you push the "Lock" button on the keyless entry.

3. Push "Reset" to enter the "Lock Menu" option panel. Push "i" to select "On" or "Off." Push and hold "i" to move on to the next procedure customization. It is "Unlock Horn." It is the same as "Lock Horn," except it determines whether the horn chirps when the "Unlock" button is pressed.

4. Push "Menu" to enter the "Unlock Horn" menu. Push "i" to select "On" or "Off." Push and hold "i" to exit the options menu and move on to the next setting. The next customization is "Light Flash." It determines whether your parking lights flash when pushing "On" or "Off."

5. Push "Menu" to enter the "Lights Flash" option panel. Push "i" to select "On" or "Off." Push and hold "i" to exit, and then turn your ignition off.
