How to Disassemble a TEC-9
Intratec Firearms, located in Miami, Florida, produces the TEC-9 machine pistol. The TEC-9 is a single-action, autoloading pistol that fires 9 mm cartridges on semi-automatic. The official name of the blowback-operated firearm is the TEC DC-9, and it is known for its low price and questionable quality. According to "Guns Lot" the TEC-9 was explicitly named during the 1994 "Assault Weapons Ban," and was ranked number nine on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives list of the "Top 18 Handguns Used by Criminals."

Unload the TEC-9. Press the magazine release and pull out the magazine. Turn off the safety, pull the bolt handle out and pull back to eject any rounds in the chamber. Work the bolt handle forward and back to be sure that the chamber is clear. Pull the trigger to de-cock the weapon.

Push out the the assembly pin located just in front of the trigger guard. Use a pen, pencil or similar object to push the pin out.

Hold the TEC-9 right-side-up by the grip with one hand; hold the barrel with the other hand. Lift the upper receiver and barrel assembly up and away from the bottom assembly.

Unscrew the disk cap at the back of the upper receiver-assembly and remove it. Tilt the assembly to remove the inner components of the upper receiver. They will slide out of the back with no additional tools required.

Pull the bolt handle all the way back until it reaches the notch; pull the bolt handle straight out. Tilt the assembly to remove the chamber from the upper receiver.
