How to Test a CD on an Inkjet Before Printing
It's easy to burn a CD at your home or office, and a custom-printed CD label makes it look more professional than simply writing on the disk. However, testing the CD's artwork on your inkjet printer before you print onto a CD label or send the artwork to a CD replicator may be a worthwhile step. Testing lets you ensure the that no essential artwork is lost when the label is cut to the CD's shape.

1
Open the graphics program in which you created your CD label. Print the label at 100 percent of its size onto paper.
-
2
Lay the paper on top of your CD. Check the edges of the CD and make sure essential artwork and text do not protrude beyond the CD's edges. Also check the CD's center cut-out to make sure the artwork and text will not be cut off when the label is applied.

3
Drag images and text away from the edges if needed. Print and compare the label again. Repeat this step until you are satisfied with the results.

4
Print your CD artwork onto an adhesive label using an inkjet printer if you are applying the label yourself. Send the artwork to your CD replicator if you are outsourcing your order.

Tips & Warnings
Keep text and essential artwork at least 1/8 inch from the CD's edge and extend your background artwork at least 1/8 inch beyond the CD. This will account for slight variations in printer alignment and make sure your images are not cut off and that your background bleeds to the edge of your label.
