Instructions

    • 1

Purchase one piece of 8.5 inch-by-11 inch white cardstock.

    • 2

Lay the paper down horizontally and place a perfectly circular object on the left half of the sheet. You can use anything you have handy, such as a large can, a wide-mouthed cup or a bowl. Choose an object that is about 4 inches in diameter; it should not extend past the middle of the paper.

    • 3

Trace the outside of the object lightly with a pencil.

    • 4

Fold the paper in half so the circle shape is on top. Cut out the circle shape with scissors, snipping through the two layers of paper at the same time. When you are done, you should have two circles of paper that are the same size.

    • 5

Erase any remaining pencil marks with a soft eraser.

    • 6

Use a ruler to draw a horizontal line across each circle, exactly 1/8 inch from the top.

    • 7

Place the paper circles on a protected surface and slice along the horizontal lines with a craft knife. Press gently and only cut halfway through the paper.

    • 8

Dot craft glue onto one of the circles, along the strip of paper above the cut.

    • 9

Glue the second circle to the first, with the cuts aligned and facing each other.

    • 10

Allow the glue to dry for the time specified on the bottle.

    • 11

Turn the card so that it opens from the bottom or side, depending on your preference.

    • 12

Adhere one or more scrapbook decals to the front of the card. There are thousands of colorful 3D scrapbook decals available in craft stores and online. Choose one or two that are appropriate for the occasion.

    • 13

Write a message on the inside of the card with a fine-tipped marker.
