How to Change the Wheeled Feet on Mattress Frames
Some mattress frames, both metal and wood, have built-in wheels attached to the bottom of each leg. These wheels allow the bed to be moved for cleaning purposes or to be repositioned. Some wheels may even have bearings in them that allow them to spin or rotate. At times, the wheels may become worn out, jammed with debris or broken from weight pressure. With most frames, the wheels can be removed and replaced. Note that you do not need to replace all of the wheels if only one wheel is damaged. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Remove all bedding from the mattress, including sheets, pillows and mattress pads. Remove the mattress itself. If there is a boxspring, remove the boxspring.
-
2
Remove the frame slats or pieces of wood or metal that support the box spring from the frame unless they are bolted or screwed to the frame.
-
-
3
Remove the headboard and footboard if your frame has these. Generally, these pieces are attached to the frame by screws or bolts. Use either a screwdriver or wrench to remove the screws or bolts. With the headboard and footboard removed, place the frame facedown on the floor.
-
4
Grasp one of the wheels with your hand and pull it straight up. The wheel's post will lift out of the hole in the frame leg. Repeat this step for the other three wheels.
-
5
Position one of the new wheels so that the metal wheel post is facing down toward the hole in the frame leg.
-
6
Put the tip of the wheel post into the hole and push downwards until the post is fully inside the hole. Some wheel housings have a metal stopper that prevent the bottom of the frame leg from touching the wheel or wheel cover. Repeat this step with each of the other three wheels.
-
7
Check to ensure that the wheel posts are properly in place. If the wheels can rotate or spin, use your hand to spin or rotate each wheel to verify proper functioning.
-
8
Place the frame faceup on the floor. Replace the headboard and footboard. Replace the slats and boxspring. Replace the mattress and any covers.
