How do I Troubleshoot a Kenmore 70 Series That Won't Spin or Drain?
If your Kenmore Series 70 washer will not spin, you probably need to change the belt around the washer's drum. If the washer will not drain, you probably have a clog in the drain tube. You will need to open the Series 70 to get to these components, but you can perform this task with household tools. Does this Spark an idea?

Unplug the washer from the wall outlet. Move the washer into a space that you can work on. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the control panel to the top of the washer.

Disconnect the control panel wires from the control panel at the wire clip. Remove the control panel from the top of the washer.

Remove the spring clips from the washer's sides with a flathead screwdriver. These are located between the top panel of the washer and the side panels. Remove the top panel of the washing machine.

Remove the back panel of the washing machine by pulling the back panel up and away from the unit casing.

Locate the spin belt. This is located at the very bottom of the washer belt. Reconnect the belt if it has come loose. Replace the belt with a new one by wrapping it around the motor pulley and then around the base of the washer drum. The motor pulley is the small pin at the end of the washer motor.

Locate the drain tube. Pull the drain tube off of the drainpipe coming out of the washer. Remove any clogs from the drain tube. Replace the drain tube on the drainpipe.

Replace the back panel of the washer. Replace the top panel of the washer. Replace the spring clips and then replace the control panel. Plug the washer into the wall outlet and use it as necessary.
