How to Check an Aquarium for Leaks

Before you spend time and effort setting up your tank, make sure it isn't going to leak!

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Place a thick layer of newspaper on a flat surface, preferably outside or in the garage.

  2. Step 2

    Set the aquarium on top of the paper.

  3. Step 3

    Fill it to the top with water.

  4. Step 4

    Look for wet spots on the newspaper after three or four days.

  5. Step 5

    Get ready for fun - your tank is now ready to clean.

on 2/25/2006 If your tank has a leak, you can fix it with aquarium silicone sealant once you determine where it's coming from. Only use sealant made specifically for aquariums!
