How to Mount a Trolling Plate
Trolling is a method of fishing in which one or more lines are dragged through the water by a slow-moving boat. This type of fishing prevents the usual loud sound of the motor from disturbing the fish, allowing for easier catching. If you want to make the trolling mode on your motor more efficient, you can mount a trolling plate to the cavitation plate above the propeller to allow for even more precise control of the boat's speed and propulsion.

1
Find the mounting point for the plate located directly above the propeller. This will have a thick flange onto which you can attach the plate assembly.
-
2
Release the trolling plate so it points down and forms a 90-degree angle with the plate spring assembly.
-
-
3
Slide the assembly right under the mounting point above the propeller. Push the trolling plate as far along the flange as you can before the boat obstructs the movement of the plate springs.
-
4
Secure the plate in place using C clamps. Drill out holes in the mounting at each place where there is already a drilled hole in the trolling plate assembly.
-
5
Insert a bolt through each of the holes in the plate assembly and the mounting plate and secure each with a nut. The bolt should enter from the plate assembly side and come out to the mounting point side.
-
6
Remove the clamps and untie the trolling plate cord. Tie the end of the cord to a fixed point on the deck to prevent the line dragging through the water and catching on the propeller.

Tips & Warnings
You can drill new holes in the trolling plate assembly if your boat doesn't work well with the holes provided.
Do not set out on a ride without lubricating all moving parts of your trolling plate.
