How to Convert Lot Size to Acreage
Lots of land can be measured in a variety of units including square feet, square yards, square meters, hectares and acres. However, if you have lots measured in different units and you want to compare their sizes, you need to convert all of the measurements to a common unit, such as acres. To do so, you need to know the conversion factors for each unit of measure. When you use the conversion factors, you can quickly convert to acres.

Divide the number of square feet in the lot by 43,560 square feet per acre to convert the lot size to acres. For example, if the size of the lot is 103,000 square feet, you would divide 103,000 by 43,560 to get about 2.36 acres.

2
Divide the number of square yards in the lot by 4,840 square yards per acre to convert to acres. For example, if you had 11,000 square yards, you would divide 11,000 by 4,840 to get about 2.27 square acres.

Divide the number of hectares by 0.4046873 hectares per acres to convert the lot size to acres. For example, if you had a three hectare lot, you would divide 3 by 0.4046873 to get about 7.41 acres.

4
Divide the lot size in square meters by 4,047 square meters per acre to convert to acres. For example, if you had 8,000 square meters, you would divide 8,000 by 4,047 to get about 1.98 acres.
