How to Troubleshoot Comcast Ads

Comcast cable connection

Comcast Cable and Internet Service, like most companies, advertises heavily via the Internet, television, radio and various other media outlets. If you're working on a project on the Web, the ads can be distracting and take away from productivity. If you're watching television, listening to music or watching a movie on a free cable station, be prepared for myriad interruptions from several advertising agencies. Purchasing "Premium Channels" through the Comcast network will stop the advertisements, but unfortunately you will not be able to stop the commercials you see when viewing a program on free cable television. You can, however, curtail the advertising you receive via email.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Comcast email account. Click the "Preferences" tab. Select the bullet to the right of version "SmartZone Communications Center." The bullet below "Communications Center Lite" is for older computers with less than 500Mb of RAM and those systems that use Windows XP as the operating system. Under the "Searches" heading, select the box to "Include Spam Folder in Searches."

    • 2

Click "My Account." Another window will open and you will be redirected to "Manage My User Accounts." Accept the "Terms and Conditions" and proceed to manage your email account.

    • 3

Click the link "Change email preferences" under "Account Settings" and enter your account number. Check the box to the left of "I do not want emails from Comcast or its partners containing offers or promotions related to Comcast and XFINITY TV, Internet and voice services."

By checking the aforementioned box, you have now "opted-out" of Comcast advertisements and will only receive emails associated with your services and your account.
