How to Speed Up Lotus Notes 6.5
Lotus Notes is marketed by IBM to assist businesses in accessing and using email, schedules, calendars and various applications. Lotus Notes, along with the IBM Lotus Domino server, is a client/server database application. The information that Lotus Notes accesses is stored on the Lotus Domino server. As you work with the system, you may find that over time it becomes slower. There are a few things you can do to address this problem.

1
Minimize the number of "Deletion Stubs" you have. To do this, go to the "Database Replication" options and choose the "Remove Documents Not Modified in Last X Days" option, entering the deletion date that you would like to use as the cutoff.
-
2
Go to the "Database Properties" dialog. In the options, turn off those features that you will not be using in this particular database.
-
-
3
Minimize the use of "Strong Encryption," since decrypting everything greatly slows the Lotus Notes client. Unless it is profoundly important to keep the data secret, a lower level of encryption should be adequate.
-
4
Avoid using large or complicated tables in your forms, since this will have a major impact on the speed.
-
5
Minimize the use of "Reader Fields," since the database has to evaluate these fields in the document before doing anything.
-
6
Check the server tasks on startup and remove any you don't need. Keep all files uncompressed, since this will just force Lotus Notes to slow down while it uncompresses them.
