How to Unrestrict a Font File

If access to a particular font file on your computer has been restricted, it has been done so by your computer's system administrator. This means that the administrator account has manually specified who can or cannot access the particular file on a hard drive. If you want to unrestrict access to the same font file and open it up for specific user accounts, you will need to do so as the system administrator.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start" and "Log Off." Click the "Administrator" icon to log back into your computer as the administrator account.

    • 2

Right-click on the font file you're trying to unrestrict. Click "Properties."

    • 3

      Click the "Security" tab.

    • 4

Click "Edit." Check the "Allow" boxes next to all of the group and usernames in the window on screen. This will allow these groups or usernames access to the font file where they previously had none.

    • 5

Click "Apply." Your font file is now unrestricted.
