How to Evaluate Your Interview
Job interviews can intimidate many people, particularly people who are interviewing for their dream position or if they desperately need a job. After the interview, your friends might ask you how the job interview went, but you might be at a loss for words. When you leave the interview, sit down and evaluate your interview, so you can not only inform others of how your interview went, but also learn from your mistakes for the next job interview.

1
Evaluate your interview in terms the detailed answers you provide the interviewer. According to Interview IQ, the interviewer may still be interested in you as a candidate even if you only answer the questions by providing short answers or skimming the surface of the answers the interviewer is looking for. Simply because the interview asked you similar questions or asks you to expand upon your previous response does not mean that the interview went badly.

2
Analyze your abilities to turn negative work experiences into positive answers. If the interviewer asked you about previous work experiences that you were not satisfied with, did you turn the answer into a positive learning experience? If so, it will show the employer your positive attitude and your ability to look positively on bad work experiences.

Evaluate your abilities to focus on the company rather than yourself when asked why the company should hire you. Employers may frown on answers that are suited to your own needs, rather than the benefits of the company, according to Job Interview Answers.

4
Look at how long the interview went and compare it to the set time for the interview. For example, if 45 minutes is set aside for the interview by the employer and the interview only lasts 25 minutes, the interview may not have gone as well as if you had filled out the entire interview space.

Being asked for your references means the interview went in the right direction, according to Interview IQ.
