Instructions

    • 1

Choose which flavor of wedding cake to bake. White, chocolate, marble or any other variation. Decide what size cake is needed and purchase the square pans based on how many the cake will feed. Pans come in sets starting at 8, 10, 12 x 2 and increase in size from there. This means the top cake is 8", middle cake is 10" and the bottom layer cake is 12". All are 2" thick. Bake two of each size as each layer will have two cakes with a filling in between.

    • 2

Prepare the cake mixes according to the directions on the boxes. Pour the batter into three different size square cake pans. When cakes are finished baking, let them cool completely. Store cakes at least overnight in a refrigerator.

    • 3

Frost the cake layers. Take a piece of cardboard cover with foil wrapping paper. Add some frosting to it. Lay the largest cake on top of it. Add a layer of filling on top of the cake. Then carefully slide the second largest layer on top. Spread the cake with frosting. Refrigerate so frosting will set. Repeat this process with the other two size layers.

Place the largest cake on a cardboard support sheet. Create the first layer of tiers by cutting a circle piece of wax paper to put in the center of the layer. Mark with a straw four or five areas where the supports will go. Layer frosting on the wax paper and lay the second tier on top. Apply a light layer of frosting on top of the middle cake and gently slide the top layer on.

Decorate the cake. Add piping around the edges to hide the layer seams. Add flowers or ribbons or any other decoration required.
