How to Make Your Own Moonsand
Moon sand is a soft, dough-like modeling substance that can be shaped like a sand castle, but remains together like modeling clay. Although you can buy pre-made moon sand at a toy store or craft supply store, you can also make your own moon sand using a few materials. Not only will making your own moon sand save you money, but you will be able to make larger quantities of the moon sand than you can buy in a store.

Pour 10 cups of play sand into a 10-gallon bucket.

Add in 4 cups of corn starch. Mix well.

Add in 3 1/2 cups of water.

Mix the substances together with your hands.

Add in more water if necessary to make the moon sand as malleable as you like.

I was not impressed with cutting corners to make my own moon sand. It was messy and did not stay molded like the moon sand you purchase at the store. Don't bother making this stuff! It was only fun until Gracie figured out that her castle wouldn't stay together.
