How to Install Publisher 2000

Microsoft Publisher 2000 is a desktop publishing application included with certain editions of Microsoft Office 2000. Publisher 2000 creates print media such as product brochures and signs. Although Publisher 2000 is no longer the current version of the program, you might be able to find Microsoft Office 2000 more cheaply than current versions and decide that the program is sufficient to fit your needs. You can install Publisher 2000 from any copy of Office 2000 that includes it.

• Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business, Professional, Premium or Developer Edition

Instructions

1. Insert the Microsoft Office 2000 CD. After a moment, the "Welcome to Microsoft Office 2000" screen appears.

2. Type the user name, initials and company name that you would like to use for all Office 2000 applications. These details are automatically appended to documents that you save.

3. Examine the back of the jewel case of the Microsoft Office 2000 CD for a yellow sticker with a 25-character serial number. Type this serial number in the "CD Key" box. Click "Next."

4. Review the end user license agreement for Office 2000 and click the "I accept the terms" radio button, then click "Next."

5. Click the "Customize" button, then click "Next."

6. Click the icon next to "Microsoft Publisher for Windows" and select "Run from My Computer." This indicates that you want to install Publisher 2000. If you want to install any other components of Office 2000 at this time, repeat this step for each component that you want to install.

7. Click the "Install Now" button. The Office 2000 utility copies Publisher 2000 and all other selected components of Office 2000 from the CD to the hard drive.

8. Click "OK" when the installation process is complete. You can launch Publisher 2000 from the Windows Start menu.

Tips & Warnings

• Microsoft Publisher 2000 is not included with Microsoft Office 2000 Standard. If you do not see an option to install Publisher 2000 after inserting your Office 2000 disc, check to confirm that you have a version that includes Publisher 2000.
