How to Modify a Cricket Wireless Modem

Cricket is a company that produces wireless technology, mostly focusing on selling cell phones, cell phone services and wireless Internet services. One wireless gadget Cricket produces is a PCI-based wireless modem. This plugs easily into a laptop and allows you to access a wireless network. However, it has certain flaws; chief amongst these is its lack of an external antenna, which reduces performance compared to modems with antennae. External antennae allow for better transmission and reception of wireless signals.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase an antenna compatible with a Cricket wireless modem, and a cable

capable of connecting it to your modem (see Resources).

    • 2

    • 3

Your Cricket modem is now attached to an external antenna, increasing the efficiency of its signal transmission and reception.
