How to Configure a TZ 100 DSL
SonicWALL's TZ 100 acts as both a computer router (which takes an existing Internet connection and creates a network from it) as well as a firewall that keeps the data transmitted over that network secure. To configure your TZ 100 to work with your computer's DSL Internet connection, simply install the device onto your existing computer setup.

1
Connect an Ethernet cable to the network output on the back of your DSL modem. It does not matter which end of the Ethernet cable you use.
-
2
Connect the same Ethernet cable to the "Internet" input on the back of your TZ 100 SonicWALL firewall/router unit.

3
Connect your computer to your TZ 100 using a separate Ethernet cable. Plug either end (it does not matter which end of the Ethernet cable you use) of an additional Ethernet cable into the Ethernet jack on the back of your computer. Typically, desktop or laptop computers have one Ethernet jack, though some have more. This jack looks identical to the one on the back of your modem or on the TZ 100. It is a standard phone cable input, also on the back of your computer. Plug the second end of the cable into one of the remaining Ethernet inputs on your TZ 100.

4
Insert your TZ 100 software installation CD-ROM into your computer. This CD installs the SonicOS software that operates the TZ 100. Click "Install." As you proceed through the installation process you will be asked to specify what types of network settings you want to use. Read the descriptions of the settings in the windows on screen and make your selection. Click "Finish" when the option becomes available.

5
Reboot your computer.
