How to Install a Safety 1st Swing 'N Lock Gate
If you have young children or pets, you may want to install a Safety 1st Swing 'N Lock Gate to prevent them from accessing certain areas of your home. You can install this at the bottom or top of a staircase or in doorways. The gate fits openings from 26 to 42 inches wide. Mount the gate by permanently installing it with the enclosed hardware or pressure mount it so that it can be moved from room to room as needed. Does this Spark an idea?

Position the gate between the two walls where you wish to mount the gate. The handle should be located on the top. Press the button on the handle and lift up.

Turn the knobs on the panels in a counterclockwise motion to loosen the gate. Slide the panels apart until the gate fits in the opening. Turn the knobs in a clockwise direction to tighten the panels to the correct width.

Press down on the handle to lock the gate into place. The pressure bars lock the gate.
Permanent Installation

Hold the gate up to the opening and use chalk to mark where the mounting hardware will need to go. The mounting hardware is installed at the top and bottom of the door. Use a tape measure to measure the marks to ensure they are correct.

Drill holes into the wood in the place where you will mount the hardware.

Screw the bottom hardware into the door frame. Use a cordless screwdriver to make sure the mountings are secure.

Place the bottom door hinge on top of the mounting hardware. Place the top hardware onto the top hinge and screw it into the opening.

Turn the knobs and slide the door into place. Tighten the knobs and then lower the handle to secure the gate into the doorway.
