Broken lens frames are inconvenient when you are dependent on your glasses to see. Depending on how bad the damage is, you can fix the frames at home or at least make them temporarily wearable until you can get them professionally repaired. An eyeglass repair kit can be purchased in most drugstores and is quite inexpensive. It will have the tools needed to fix any minor lens frame repairs. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Eyeglass repair kit
  • Magnifying glass
  • Pliers
  • Soft cloth
  • Fast-bonding glue

      Look at your glasses carefully to see where the break is in your lens frames. Use a magnifying glass if needed.

      Use pliers to carefully move a stretched-out hinge back into place. Be careful not to pull too hard.

      Use the screwdriver from the eyeglass repair kit to screw in screws that are loose. Your eyeglass repair kit may come with extra screws. If you have lost one of your original screws, find one in the kit that fits best and screw it into place.

      Clean the hinge of your eyeglasses with a soft cloth if the temple piece has broken at that point. Apply a fast-bonding glue to the hinge and insert the temple piece. Hold the hinge and temple piece in place for five minutes and leave to dry for 30 minutes before on your glasses.

  • If you are unable to fix your glasses, take them to the eyeglass store where you purchased them.
