How to Remove a Blind Roll Pin
Roller blinds or shades have pins that hold the rod or roll pin, from which the blinds hang, in place. These pins are seated in brackets on both sides of the blind. When it comes time to clean or replace your blinds, you will need to remove the blind roll pin from the brackets to take it down. Removing the pin is an easy and quick process and is completed the same regardless of the type of roller shade you have, with the exception of one step. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Pull down on the cord for the blind to raise the blinds to their highest point. To keep the blinds raised up, you will have to pull at a 45 degree angle to either the left or the right depending on how your blinds were installed. Pulling at an angle will activate the locking mechanism with in the roll pin.

2
Locate the flat pin on one side of the roller. This pin will be seated in a hole that is connected to the bracket. One side of the hole is open. Lift the roller pin in the direction of the open part of the hole. The pin should slide out of position. Half of the roll pin should no longer be connected to the window. Skip this step if your blind roll pin has a large wheel at the end of the pin.

3
Turn the wheel at the end of the pin (if applicable) counter-clockwise until the metal pin, holding the blind in place, slides inward and the blind slides out of the bracket.
-
4
Remove the blind roll pin by pulling it out of the other bracket. The pin on the other side of the roller is round and is seated in a solid hole connected to the other bracket. The blind roll pin should now be completely removed from the window and ready for cleaning or replacing.
-
5
Replace the blind roll pin by inserting the round pin into the solid hole first, then seating the flat pin into position on the other bracket. This is the exact opposite of the process to remove the pin.

Tips & Warnings
If necessary, position a small step ladder below the blind to give you the proper height to carefully remove the roller pin.
Blinds can collect a lot of dust if not cleaned regularly. Be careful not to inhale the dust as you are removing the blind roll pin, by using a filter mask, if necessary.
