The Gerber F.A.S.T. knife is a simple blade held together by a few screws and a rivet.

Gerber manufactures a wide range of utility knives for hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. The Gerber F.A.S.T. knife is designed to flip open with only one hand. Like any well used knife however, the Gerber F.A.S.T. will need to be disassembled periodically for cleaning or for blade replacement. Disassembling this knife is a relatively simple process that involves removing the outer screws from the knife.

  • Vice grip
  • Appropriately sized screwdriver
  • Flat-head screwdriver

Instructions

    • 1

      Secure the knife in a vice grip so the knife is facing upwards, with the round rivet facing you.

    • 2

      Unscrew the screws on the outside of the knife using the appropriately sized screwdriver.

    • 3

      Remove the screws from the knife and attempt to pull the two casings apart. If the knife will not come apart, move on to the third step.

    • 4

      Insert a flat-head screwdriver in the crack between the two casings. Pry the pieces apart until they separate, allowing you to have access to the blade.
