Timer Clock Instructions
Timer Clock is a free, downloadable, countdown-clock software application that can be set to count down from a pre-designated time limit to zero. The software was originally developed to help the speakers at the EuroGraphics 2002 tutorial sessions stay within their designated time limit, but it has since become available under a General Public License. Operating the Timer Clock is very straightforward and is unlikely to cause confusion to anyone familiar with computer programs.

1
Download the latest version of Java (see Resources). Any version after 1.4 will suffice to run the program, and there are unlikely to be any problems on a modern computer. Open the file "tc.jar" to run the program.
-
2
Click on the "Settings" tab at the top of the Timer Clock window. This is the middle of the three options at the top of the screen. When you click on it, it will bring up a drop-down menu. Select "Time" from that menu. This is the second option from the bottom.
-
-
3
Use the drop-down boxes in the "Time" window to set the timer for your desired time period. The furthest left of the three drop-down boxes is the "Hour" setting, the middle one is the "Minutes" setting and the one farthest to the right is the "Seconds." Click "OK" when you have selected the desired time period. You will see the time you entered in the center of the screen.
-
4
Click the "Control" tab at the top of the screen. This will open up a drop-down menu with three options. The top option is "Start," the middle is "Stop" and the bottom one is "Reset." The options do exactly what they say, and you should click "Start" to set your timer counting down. "Reset" is used to set the clock back to what you originally entered into the "Time" menu.
-
5
Go to "Settings" and then "Font" if you want to edit the font in which the remaining time is displayed. The font size is set automatically, but there may be other style options available, depending on your system.
-
6
Go to "Action" from the "Settings" menu to choose how you would like to be notified when the time has elapsed. You can choose between a beep, a color change, a pop-up window and nothing at all.
-
7
Edit the "FG Color" and "BG Color" options in the "Settings" menu if you want to change the general appearance of the Timer Clock. If you want to revert to the default setting, choose "Reset Color" from the "Settings" menu.
