Handle the legal logistics of your charity. You must apply for the proper legal structure for your charity organization and obtain a business license. Put together your charity's Articles of Confederation and file them with the Secretary of State. Write bylaws and submitting your charitable organization to federal and state government to be eligible for tax exempt status. Your Articles of Confederation and bylaws should be written with the participation of your board of directors. You will also be required to open a separate bank account, and keep your personal finances separate from those of your charitable organization.
