Access Old AOL Mail

AOL is an Internet services company that offers both paid and free membership plans. As part of all membership plans, users receive a free email account. If you've canceled your paid AOL account, in many cases, you can still access your old AOL email messages by logging on to AOL's Web mail using the username and password from your paid AOL account.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a Web browser on your computer and go to AOL's main homepage (see Resources).

    • 2

      Click on the "Mail" icon.

    • 3

Enter the username and password from your old paid AOL account in the appropriate text boxes.

    • 4

Click the blue "Sign In" button. You can find your old AOL email messages in the "Inbox."

Tips & Warnings

  • When canceling your paid AOL account, make sure you switch your account to a free AOL account. AOL may or may not automatically switch your account to a free account at the time of cancellation if you don't manually elect to switch to a free account.

  • AOL may cancel your account for non activity. If AOL cancels your account, all old email messages are deleted and you cannot recover the messages. It is, therefore, advisable to periodically check your email account. Although AOL does not specify an exact time period for account deletion, checking your account monthly will prevent AOL from deleting your account.
